Bead One, Pray Too
By Paul Turner

Bead One, Pray Too is a wonderful and informative journey into the ancient practice and history of prayer beads. Many of us who are Protestants often balk at the notion of using prayer beads, but Winston puts our concerns to rest by emphasizing that prayer beads are a means to an end and should not be the object of our devotion.

The book rescues prayer beads from being a gimmicky spiritual trinket to a powerful tool of contemplation. Thought-provoking quotes throughout the book challenge us to reconsider our own prayer life. This book may bring you to wonder about the prayer life of your students. How often and how long do my students pray? Are their prayer lives focused and fulfilling? Could prayer beads be a helpful solution?

My favorite portion of Bead One, Pray Too is the chapter on making your own prayer beads. This chapter offers rich and diverse options to creating meaningful prayer beads, stirring up ideas for multiple uses including retreats and concerts of prayer.
