The economy is bad, and we all know people who have lost jobs or are struggling. Meanwhile, the Pope sees a silver lining for Christmas in the economic crisis. Pope Benedict XVI hopes the global economic crisis will spur a revival of Christmas's spiritual meaning, ridding the holiday of its "consumerist and materialist incrustations" (Religion News Service). Meanwhile, we have a ton of "best of" lists from experts who look back at 2008.1) Religion Newswriters Association list of the year's top 25 religion events selected by religion editors and journalists in the mainstream press. On Saturday, CBS TV's 48 HOURS broadcasts "The Lord's Boot Camp." This new film, from the maters of the Academy Award-nominated socumentary, "Jesus Camp," takes a look at three teenagers training to become Christian missionaries while also dealing with the pressures teens face daily. Immediately following the broadcast, viewers can log onto www.CBSNews.com to watch teens of various faiths debate issues raised by the program.2) Tons o' song downloads: The award-winning CompassionArt charity is giving away 100 million brand new songs from its upcoming CompassionArt: Creating Freedom From Poverty CD/DVD for a limited time.
